900 more Ottawa students suspended over immunization records

Ottawa Public Health has suspended another 900 students from both the Ottawa Catholic School Board and the Conseil des coles publiques de l'Est de l'Ontario over out-of-date immunization records.

900 students suspended for 20 days in December due to out-of-date records

Ottawa Public Health said about 82 per cent of students who received notices in December have since updated their immunization records.

Ottawa Public Health has suspended another 900 students from 75 schools inboth the Ottawa Catholic School Board and the Conseil des coles publiques de l'Est de l'Ontario over out-of-date immunization records.

The agency had already issued thefirst round of 20-day suspensions,under the authority of the Immunization of School Pupils Act, to900 Ottawa Catholic School Boardelementary studentsat 40 different schoolsjust before the holiday break onDecember 15.

Since then, about82 per cent of those students have provided proof of updated records, leaving about 160 students still under suspension, the agency said.

Suspensions can also be lifted when a valid exemption is provided.
