Barrhaven shooting leads to 15 charges against young Ottawa man

Ottawa police have charged two men, both 21, after a reported shooting in Barrhaven on Sunday night.

Shooting reported on Astoria Crescent around 8 p.m. on Sunday, police say

Ottawa police have charged two young men related to a shooting incident on Sunday night in Barrhaven, including a 21-year-old who allegedly fired the gun.

Police officers responded to the 1-100 block of Astoria Crescent around 8 p.m. Sunday after they received reports of a shooting.

Witnesses provided a description of a vehicle and officers found it nearby, arresting three male suspects, police said in a news release.

Nobody was injured in the shooting, but police laid 15 charges against a 21-year-old including possessing and discharging a weapon, as well as possessing cocaine, OxyContin and other drugs.

That man was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

Another 21-year-old man faces one charge of drug possession. The third suspect was not charged.

The Ottawa police guns and gangs unit continues to investigate.
