City extends Laurier Avenue bike lane, unveils new multi-use pathway
New infrastructure better connects Laurier lanes with Albert Street, city says
Ottawa cyclists will nowhave an easier time getting from Albert Street to theLaurier Avenue bike lanes.
On Friday, the city unveiled a new stretch of its east-west bikeway project, one that connects the Laurier lanes with the existing multi-use pathway on Albert Street.
Cyclists now have access to a raised 1.5-metre-wide bike path on the north side of Laurier between Bronson Avenue and Percy Street, the city said.
A newmulti-use pathway and a pedestrian crossing with a signal on Albert Street betweenCommissioner Street and Brickhill Street arealso now open, the city said.
The east-west bikeway project was launched in 2013 to create a continuous path all the way from Westboro to Vanier.
