Outaouais teen bomb threat suspects face new charges

Four Outaouais teenagers have been released into the custody of their parents after appearing in court to face additional charges in relation to bomb threats made to Quebec schools between Oct. 28 and Nov. 3.

Four Outaouais teenagers have been released into the custody of their parents after appearing in a Gatineau courtroom to face additional charges in relation to bomb threats made to Quebec schools between Oct. 28 and Nov. 3.

The teensall of themeither 16 or17years oldare fromWakefield, Chelsea andAnge-Gardien.

After being charged with mischief yesterday, the teens were charged with four more offences:

  • Uttering threats to burn, destroy or damage Quebec schools.
  • Uttering threats to cause death or harm to Quebec students or employees.
  • Intent to injure or harm telecommunications.
  • Conspiring to commit an indictable offence.

Bomb threats were made on Oct. 28 and 29 in schools inthe Outaouaisregion and in Ottawa.

Officials at one English-language Gatineauschool, Heritage College, said that video footage captured at the school helped police with their investigation.

Although the threats were very similar to bomb threats that targeted 71 schools Wednesdayacross Quebec,the Sret du Qubec has not saidif there is a connection between the cases.

Quebec Premier Phillippe Couillard promised that whoever made the threats would be prosecuted, calling the act "condemnable."
