Ottawa's 54th shooting of 2016 sends man to hospital

A man in his 20s is recovering from a shooting near St. Laurent Boulevard Sunday night, according to Ottawa police.

Police called to Brittany Drive around 10 p.m. Sunday

Ottawa police say aman in his 20s is recovering after being shot near St. Laurent Boulevard Sunday night.

At around 10 p.m., patrol officers responded to a call about a shooting outside an apartment building at 248 Brittany Drive.

"I heard a girl screaming and hollering and then I heard a gunshot," saidJohnLatreille, who haslived in the area for 22 years. "Very disturbing, because thisis a quietneighbourhood. And we'd like to keep it quiet."

Police said the victim drove himself to the Montfort Hospital.

Officers say the man, who is known to police,is expected to survive. They said he isn't cooperatingwith investigators.

As of Monday morning thereare no known suspects.

2nd long weekend shooting

The shooting is Ottawa's54thof 2016, and the second shooting this long weekend.

On Friday, another man in his 20s showed up at hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. He was also refusing to cooperate, police said.
