Carleton University president Roseann Runte resigns

Roseann Runte is resigning as president and vice-chancellor of Carleton University "to pursue another leadership opportunity," the school announced Friday.

Roseann Runte is resigning from her postas president and vice-chancellor of Carleton University, the school announced Friday.

Runte's departure was announced at the March 23 board meeting and is effective July 31, 2017, the school said in a news release.

The school said Runte, who took the job in 2008, is leaving "to pursue another leadership opportunity."

Details aboutthat opportunity will be announced in the coming week, said Carleton.

Runtewas the first woman to be hired aspresident and vice-chancellor in the school's history.

Runte had previously served as president of l'Universit Sainte-Anne in Nova Scotia, Victoria University in Torontoand Old Dominion University in Virginia, and principal of York University's Glendon College..

Carleton's board of governors will work with management to develop a transition planaccording to the board's bylaws, the school said.
