Cost of downtown Ottawa truck tunnel study split by city, province

The City of Ottawa and the province have agreed to split the cost of a study to investigate the possibility of a downtown tunnel for large trucks.

The announcement from the City of Ottawa comes nearly nine months after the city made a similar announcement to say that the technical study would be jointly funded.

The study is expected to cost about $750,000 and take 18 months to complete.In November 2013, the city said it would take 12 months to complete.

The city will cover 50 per cent of the cost of the study, and the province will contribute the remaining 50 per cent.
