'Crazy Kitchen,' locomotives will stay at Canada Science and Technology Museum

The Canada Science and Technology Museum says it will continue to display its "Crazy Kitchen" and locomotive exhibits when the museum reopens in 2017.

The museum is also holding public consultations to sharerenovation sketches and concepts for the first time since the museum closed in 2014 due to mould and other problems.

The museum is scheduled to reopen in 2017 with new exhibitions, programs and a new facade, as well as other interior and exterior renovations.

The following public consultations are scheduled:

• June 6, from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the St. Laurent Shopping Centre.
• June 7, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the St. Laurent Shopping Centre.
• June 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum.
• June 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum.
• UntilJune 20, people canalso do an online survey.

The museum was closed to the publicin September 2014after maintenance workers discovered a leakin the roofthat had spread tothe building's south wall.Subsequent tests revealed high levels of airborne mould.

In November, the federal government announced $80.5 million in funding tocover the costs of a new roof, an upgraded facade, updates to the exhibit space and a retrofit of the building to meet updated fire and earthquake-resistance codes.

The museum will be turning 50 years old in 2017and the museum's scheduled reopening also comes during Canada's 150th birthday celebrations.
