Courting voters in Cumberland

When Stephen Blais ran for council in 2010 he promised to stay on for only two terms, but in December he announced he's running again. Two candidates are now hoping to unseat him.

Incumbent Stephen Blais faces 2 challengers in this election

Cumberland has a population of 48,665 people living in 18,364 homes.

When Stephen Blais ran for council in 2010 he promised to stay on for only two terms, but in December he announced he's running again.

In 2014, Blais faced only one other opponent, Marc Belisle, and won with 78 per cent of the vote.

Cumberland is Ottawa's most easternward. It has rural villages, such as Vars, Navan and its namesake Cumberland, butalso includes the growingsuburbaroundTrimand Innes roads with its popular Millenium Park. Two different lifestyles mean the ward councillor deals with issues related to rural life and urbandevelopment. It will also be home to Amazon's new fulfillment centre on Boundary Road.
