Funerals set for cyclist Danielle Nau

Funerals in Ottawa and Mississauga are now set for Danielle Nau, 33, who died from her injuries after being knocked into moving traffic by an open car door while cycling in downtown Ottawa.

The funeral for a cyclist who died while riding along Queen Street is set for Saturday.

Danielle Nau, 33, was travelling between Metcalfe and O'Connor streets in downtown Ottawa around 9 a.m. Tuesday whenshe collided with a car door.

Witnesses said the door of the car, which was parked in a legal parking spot, opened and Nau ran into it, falling into the path of a car travelling behind her.

Nau was treated by paramedics and transported to hospital, but she was later pronounced dead.

Nau's family has arranged a visitation for 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday at Kelly's Funeral Home at 585 Somerset St. W.

The funeral will take place at All Saints' Sandy Hill Anglican Church at 1:30 p.m.

There will also be viewing services in Mississauga, Ont., next Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at St. Thomas Beckett Anglican Church. A second funeral will be next Friday at 11 a.m. also at the same church.

Nau is from the Toronto area and her family travelled to Ottawa fromToronto and BramptonWednesdayto start organizing the services and meet with her friends.

People continue to add to a ghost bike memorial near where the former immigration officer died. There is also amemorial ride plannedin her honour for Tuesday at 9 a.m. starting at Bronson Avenue and Queen Street.
