CBC Ottawa visited Ward 10 to find out how they want to make their neighbourhood better

From Sept. 22 to Oct. 23, CBC Ottawa will visit the 23 electoral wards in the city of Ottawa to get the inside track on the issues people are talking about on the eve of the upcoming municipal election.

The first stop was Ward 10 Gloucester-Southgate, at the Towngate Mall at the corner of Bank Street and Hunt Club Road.

CBC was on location from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and heard directly from a few of you.

Gloucester - Southgate Ward is in the south end of Ottawa and includes South Keys, Greenboro, Ridgemont, Hunt Club, Emerald Woods, and surrounding communities. It isa very ethnically diverse ward, according to the Ottawa Neighborhood Study. 45 per cent of residents over the age of 15 are first generation immigrants.

In the 2010 municipal election40per cent of eligible voters turned out to vote- one of the lowest rates in the city.

CBC Ottawa asked all the candidates running for city council to record a 1-minute pitch and tell voters why they think they're the best candidate for their ward. The pitches below are from those who participated in this project.
