Hunting dog found shot to death in Algonquin Park

Ontario Provincial Police are asking the public for help after a hunting dog was shot to death and buried in an Algonquin Park game preserve.

On Monday, the dog's owner called police and said friends had found his dog's body in the sprawling provincial park west of Ottawa, said Const. Catherine Yarmel of the OPP's Killaloe detachment.

The dog had been shot in the head, said police. It was wearing an electronic radio collar equipped with GPSthat hunters typically use to keep track of their dogs while hunting.

The dog's bodyhad been buried in a game preserve in the park, said the OPP, where hunting is prohibited.

Police have not saidwhereexactlyin the 7,630 square-kilometre park the dogwas found.
