Jagtar Gill's relatives struggling to cope with her death

Relatives of homicide victim Jagtar Gill whose body was found by her eldest daughter at their home this week say the mother of three was "strong and bold."

Relatives of homicide victim Jagtar Gill whose body was found by her eldest daughter at their home this week say the mother of three was "strong and bold."

"She was nice and everybody remembers her. She has a special personality. Everyone has something, I don't know how I can explain, but if you talked to her once, you won't forget her," said Gill's brother-in-law, KulwinderSidhu.

"She was very, very strong and bold."

Gill and her parents, sisters and brother moved to Canada from India in 1993, Sidhu said.In 1997, Gillwent back to India andmarriedBhupinderpalSingh Gill, then the couple settled inCanada.

She worked at an electronics company in Kanata for nearly 20 years and was laid off in October, Sidhu said.

Gill's family is well known and respected in Ottawa's Sikh community, saidBalrajSinghDhillon, president of theSikh temple in Nepean.

"It's a terrible tragedy. The whole community is shocked. This hit so close to everybody's heart," Dhillonsaid.

"The tragic part is the kids are so young. We'll see what role the community can play in bringing them up."

The 43-year-old woman's body was discoveredat the home she shared with her husband and children at 174BramblingWay, nearGreenbankand Cambrian roads, at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

An autopsy performedThursday morningconfirmedGill died of multiple stab wounds.

Police say her husbandis not a suspect.

Gill's relatives are waiting for her parents to come back to Ottawa from India on Sunday before setting a date for a memorial service.
