The massive road work project underway on Main Street has snarled traffic for commuters and changed getting around for many in the neighbourhood.

The Main Street renewal project, which began on May 25, will replace deteriorated water and sewer systems, while also adding cycle tracks, wider sidewalks, on-street parking, and space for streetscaping.

As a result, northbound traffic is not be permitted on Main Street between Clegg Street and Lees Avenue and between Greenfield Road and Echo Drive. One lane of traffic remains open in the southbound direction.

CBC Ottawa's Sandra Abma talked to neighbours about their concerns about the impact of detours, while Steve Fischer takes a look at how newly installed lights at Clegg Street have added to the commuting challenge.
