NCC to hold public consultations on Civic hospital location

The National Capital Commission plans to host an open house about where to put a new Civic campus of the Ottawa Hospital on Sept. 22 at the Canadian War Museum.

The National Capital Commission plans to host an open house about where toput a new Civic campus of the Ottawa Hospital on Sept. 22.

The public meeting will take place at the Canadian War Museum, the NCC announced by Twitter.

Details for the public meeting are still being worked out, according to an NCC official, but will likely include a presentation that will explain the criteria and review potential locations. There will also be a publicquestion-and-answer session.

More details of the open house will be announced at the NCC's board meeting scheduled for Sept. 12.

The time of the event hasn't been confirmed yet, but the open house will probably start in late afternoon and continue into the evening.

NCC told to review federal lands for suitable location

Last spring, Heritage Minister Mlanie Joly asked the NCC to review all federally owned land in the capital region to determine a location for the Civic in response to increasing controversy over the hospital wanting to build a new 24-hectarecampus on research fields at the Central Experimental Farm.

The NCC must recommend a site to the federal government by the end of November.
