No body tampering charges in Valerie Leblanc case

Quebec's director of criminal and penal prosecutions has ruled there will be nobody tampering charges in the case ofValerie Leblanc, the 18-year-old who was found dead behindher Gatineau school in August.

Leblanc, who was discovered in a forestnear CEGEP de l'Outaouais in the Hull sector of Gatineau, died from severe head trauma and her body was also found burned.

There were two investigations into her death: An investigation into how she diedand another on possible tampering with her body after her death.

Four passersby wereinitially questioned in connection with thepossible manipulation ofLeblanc's body, but three were cleared on Sept. 1. The fourth person's case went to the Crown. The director of criminal and penal prosecutions now says no charges will be laid.

Police still have no suspects in thehomicide and are looking for a main witness.

Leblanc went missing on her first day of school in late August and her body was found by some students near a path Aug. 23.

Police areoffering a $10,000 reward for information related to the case.
