Ontario and Quebec reopening: Here's what you can do and when

Both Ontario and Quebec have released their plans for loosening COVID-19 restrictions.Here is how they compare.

Ontario and Quebec residents will notice some big changes in the coming days and weeks as the two provinces move forward with their reopening plans. But when businesses can reopen and certain activities, like outdoor dining, can resume varies between the two. (Michel Aspirot/CBC)

A lot is set to change in the coming weeks and monthsfor residents in Ontario and Quebec as businesses reopenandactivities that have been banned temporarily are allowed once again.

Both provinceshavereleased plans to gradually loosen COVID-19 restrictions and reopen their economies.

Quebec's plan takes a regional approach, where areas with lowercase counts and hospitalizations will be able to reopen earlier than others.

Ontario's provincewide three-step plan will seerestrictions eased gradually through June, July and August based on vaccination rates and key public health and health-care indicators. The government has provided the week of June 13as a tentative datefor the start of this reopening, which is based on current indicators.

Note: Dates are approximate and are theearliest possible days by which activities could be allowed to resume. Delays are possible based on high case counts or lower than expected vaccination rates. Only certain activities are listed. Check individual government plans for detailed restrictions. In Quebec, the rules may be different for people living in orange and red zones.
