Marie-France Lalonde re-elected in Orlans

Liberal Marie-France Lalonde has been re-elected in the riding of Orlans.

Liberal Marie-France Lalonde has been re-elected in the riding of Orlans.

With all polls counted, Lalonde has 39 per centof the vote, 2,463 more votes than her closest competitor, Progressive Conservative candidate Cameron Montgomery.

Lalondewas first elected to represent the riding in 2014, after fellow LiberalPhilMcNeelyretired.Under KathleenWynne, she served asminister of Community and Correctional Services.

Theriding, which has a mix ofurban and rural residents and a significant francophone community, has been Liberal since 2003, when DaltonMcGuintyled the party to victory over then-premier Ernie Eaves.

The riding changed last yearwhenOntario shifted riding boundaries to increase the number of provincial representatives from 107 to 124.Orlansis now 25 per cent bigger, having gained territory from both the old riding ofNepeanCarletonas well asGlengarryPrescottRussell.

  • Barbara Zarboni,a retired financial advisor, for the NDP.
  • NicholasLapierre, who works at Algonquin College, for the Green Party.
  • Gerald Bourdeaufor the Ontario Libertarian Party.
  • Independent candidate Samuel Schwisberg.
