Skype tips lead to child porn charges against Ottawa man

Police have charged a 23-year-old Ottawa man with child pornography offences after they received information from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children's online tip line.

Search warrant executed Tuesday at Nepean address

Police have charged a 23-year-old Ottawa man with child pornography offences after getting tipsfrom a national centredevoted to reporting child exploitation.

The Ottawa Police Service said that late last November, they received seven reports fromthe National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children's CyberTipLine.

The reports, submitted by Skype, indicated an Ottawa IP address had uploaded images of child sexual abuse.

Ottawa police then got a production order and were able toconnect the IP address with aresidence in the community of Nepean.

On Tuesday officers executedasearch warrant of that address, police said, andfound imagesof child sexual abuse on digital devices.

The accused is charged with making child pornography available, accessing child pornography and two counts of possession of child pornography.

He is expected to appear in court on March 8.
