Jenna Sudds wins in Kanata North

Jenna Sudds will represent the ward of Kanata North for the next four years, according to unofficial results.

Supporters erupted when the CBC projected Jenna Sudds would win Kanata North.

Jenna Suddswill represent the ward of Kanata North for the next four years, according to unofficial results.

With 97of 97 polls counted,Sudds has 46.7per cent of the vote and a 1,600-vote lead over her closest rival, Matt Muirhead.

The race was anyone's to win after longtime councillor Marianne Wilkinson announced in March that she's leaving municipal politics about 50 years after shewon her firstelection.

Sudds, the former head of the KanataBIA,received an endorsement from Wilkinson during the campaign.

Suddssaidthe community's primary challengeis dealing with the growth and the transportation issues that come with it, including better bus service and getting the LRTto Kanata.

The other threecandidates were:

  • Philip Bloedow
  • David Gourlay
  • Lorne Neufeldt

The city clerk is expected to declare the results official by Thursday.
