Tuesday's drizzle could turn into snow by Wednesday, the first day of May.

Environment Canada has issuedspecial weather statementswarningbetween 15 and 25 millimetres of rain could fall on flood-prone parts ofthe region Wednesday, along with snow, ice pellets and freezing rain.

Communities along the St. Lawrence River and Lake Ontario could see 20 to 40 millimetres of rain, with less snow and ice in the mix.

The high in Ottawa could only be 1 C.

Water levels on the Ottawa River are expected to keep rising, with peak levels hitting the city onWednesday and Thursday; other areas as soon as today.

Showers are in Ottawa's forecast for Thursday and Friday as well.
