Frostbite warning issued as frigid temperatures set in

Ottawa Public Health has issued a frostbite warning as Thursday's daytime high of 10 Cwill give way to a cold air masscycling in from the northwest beginning Thursday evening.

Overnight lows will feel like 35 with the windchill, the public health agency warns.

They are asking people to wear several layers of clothing and monitor for the white waxy patches developing on your skin.

If you happen to suffer from frostbite or frostnip, never rub or massage the affected areas, Ottawa Public Health advises. You can warm up the skin gradually with water or body heat

Daytime highs in the 20 C range stick around through the weekend before things warm up Monday and Tuesday.

Thecold snap has also prompted Environment Canada to issue another cold weather warning.
