Patrick Garland of Absinthe Caf wins Gold Medal Plates event

Chef Patrick Garland of AbsintheCafwon the top prize Monday night at the Gold Metal Plates competition in Ottawa, the annual event that aims to raise funds for future Olympians.

Garland won with a dish ofquail with grapes and foie gras served witha 2013 Gerwrztraminer from Tawse winery.

Steve Wall of Supply and Demand and John Morris from LeCafat the National Arts Centre won the silver and bronze in the friendly competition.
