Philip Slobodzian again facing charges in alleged construction scams

Ottawa police are asking for the public's help to find a man suspected of committing two alleged construction frauds, and who has a history of doing so.

Ottawa police are asking for the public's help to find a man with a history of construction frauds who is facing four new charges.

Philip Slobodzian, 44, is wanted on two charges of fraud under $5,000 and two counts of possession of the proceeds of crime in relation to construction scams, Ottawa police said in a media release issued Wednesday.

The two incidents occurred in May 2014 and September 2015 in the City of Ottawa, said fraud unitSgt.Guy Thivierge. The Ottawa police investigation into the incidents began in late October.

Police are "pretty confident" there are other victims in Ottawaand are asking anyone with information to come forward, Thivierge said.

Slobodzian is believed to be living in the Arnprior, Ont., or Renfrew County areas. He is described as a white man, six feet tall, about 200 pounds with brown hair.

He was the subject ofa series of reports by CBC Ottawain 2010 and 2011 after customers complained he took their money and then either failed to show up to carry out the work, or did a poor job.

Most recently, in April 2014, Slobodzian wasconvicted for the fourth time under the Consumer Protection Act and sentenced to two months in jail after he took $6,000 from a customer for a project and then never started the work.
