Police seek suspect in 2 south Ottawa sex assaults

Ottawa police have confirmed they are investigating two reported sexual assaults and a suspicious incident this morning in the Alta Vista neighbourhood.

Police warn residents after three incidents all in the same area and within minutes of each other.

Ottawa police are looking for one man they believe is responsible for two reported sexual assaultsand a suspicious incident this morning in the Alta Vista neighbourhood.

Onecall came in for a suspicious incident at Drake Avenue and Knox Crescent at about 7:20 a.m. near The Ottawa Hospital's General campus.

The incident call came from Riverview Alternative School,which wasin lockdown. Police say a man followed a daycare worker, 22, into the school from the Hurdman OC Transpo station. There was no attack, though, as the man was chased from the school.

A second call then came in 20 minutes later in the 1600 block of Dorion Avenue where police say a man approached a woman, 19,from behind and pulled her pants down.

3 incidents in 40 minutes

A third call came around 8 a.m. fromthe Ottawa Montessori School on Lindsay Street.

The school said that call was related to a reportedsexual assault at Alta Vista Drive and Industrial Avenue where a woman, 41, also had her pants pulled down from behind.

The call to police was made from the school because it wasthe 41-year-oldvictim's workplace.

"An incident occurred involving one of our staff as she made her way to work; it did not occur at the school," read a release from the school.

The suspect is described as standing five feet six inches, Caucasian, between 20 and 25 years old, with a medium build and short black hair.

He was seen wearing a dark hooded jacket, blue jeans and a dark baseball cap.

This now brings the number of reported sexual assaultstonine in the past two weeks in Ottawa. There were already seven reports of sexual assaults downtown.
