Ritchie Street neighbours call on police to curb violence
Nearby church reverend says he plans on filing official police complaint if more isn't done
Residents in the Britannia area are calling on the city to ramp up police presence in the Ritchie Street area after children reported that a gunman frightened them in a playground earlier this month.
And in 2013, a year earlier, 24-year-old Malik Adjokatcher was shot to death in front of a home on the street.
Police have not yet made an arrest in either case.
Rev. Terry Orchard at Britannia Baptist Church is fed up with the violence and organized a walk on Sunday to bring attention to it.
He says that if police don't increase security, he plans on filing an official complaint with the chief of Ottawa police.
A local community association disagrees, saying the neighbourhood is a safe place to live.
