Basil Borutski ID'd as suspect after 3 women found dead near Wilno, Ont.

A 57-year-old man arrested Tuesday after a womanwas founddead near the community of Wilno, Ont., is now a suspect in two other homicides, provincial police say.

Basil Borutskiwas arrested at around 2:30 p.m. on Kinburn Side Road in Ottawa.

Borutski has a criminal record and had recently been released from prison, according to police sources.

Ontario'sMinistry of Community Safety and Correctional Services said Borutski was released on Dec. 27, 2014.

Police responded to an incident in Wilno, about 180 kilometres west of Ottawa between Barry's Bay and Killaloe,just before 9 a.m. ETonSzczipior Road, Ontario Provincial Police said.

Upon arrival, police found a dead woman.Neighbours of the victim identified her as AnastasiaKuzyk, a local Century 21 realtor.

On Tuesday afternoon, police confirmed they also found a second woman dead at a residence on Foymount Road in nearby Foymount. That victim, CBC has learned, is Nathalie Warmerdam, who had been in a relationship with the suspect.

At around 11:10 a.m., BancroftOPP officersresponded to a residence on Kamaniskeg Lake Road and founda third woman dead.

The third victim is believed to be a family member of the suspect.

Before an arrest was made, residents in affected communities were told to keep their doors and windows locked and stay inside.

Schools, courthouses and other sitesin the affected communitieswerelocked down as a precaution.

All lockdowns have now been lifted, OPP said.

"Everyone's been told they can get back to their daily lives, as much as they can after an incident like this," said Insp. John McGetrick with the Ottawa Police Service.

Borutskiis expected to appear in court in Pembroke, Ont., onWednesday.
