Ottawa Police Chief White to stay until 2015

Ottawa Police Chief Vern White will remain in his current role for at least another four years, after signing a new contract.

White, whose contract was set to expire next May, will stay as head of the force until 2015 and also has an option to extend that by another two years.

The chief had been rumoured at one point to be a candidate for the RCMP commissioner post.

He has served as Ottawa's police chief since May 2007.
