Police probe 6th downtown sex assault in a week

Ottawa police are investigating after a woman in her 20s reported a man put his hand over her face claiming it contained a bodily substance. They say it's not connected to a rash of sexual assaults last week.

Ottawa police are investigating a reported sexual assault in downtown Ottawa very early Sunday morning.

Police say a woman, 25, was walking south on Elgin Street near Slater Street just before 1 a.m. when she alleged a man put his hand on her face saying it contained a bodily substance.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, standing about five feet eight inches tall and has a medium build.

He was also wearing a beige coat possibly a red hat.

Policedo not believe this latest reported sexual assault is related to five other reported sexual assaultsin downtown Ottawalast week.
