2nd teen charged in swarming case that saw alleged thief stabbed by robbery victim

Another 19-year-old man is facing charges after a swarming in the ByWard Market, during which the victim stabbed the alleged robber, who complained to police and was charged.

Another19-year-old man is facing charges after a swarmingin the ByWard Market, during which the victim stabbed the alleged robber, who complained to police and was charged.

On Sept. 8, at about 10:40 p.m., plainclothes police officers wereconducting an unrelated investigation when they were approached by a young man who indicated he'd been stabbed, according to Ottawa police.

A short time later, police got a call from someone who said he had been robbed of his wallet at gunpoint by three people, and that he had stabbed one of them. The callerwas arrested at the scene, questioned by police, andreleased without charge.

The 19-year-oldvictim of the stabbing, meanwhile, was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. He remained in hospital Monday, police said.

He was charged with robbery, pointing a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon.

Police saidthey werelooking for otherrobbery suspects, who could be between 17 and 21 years old.

On Oct. 6, police announced that another 19-year-old Ottawa man turned himself in to the force's headquarters on Elgin Street and was charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon.
