Massive eastern U.S. storm disrupts weekend flights at Ottawa airport

Flights to and from a handful of U.S. cities are being disrupted at Macdonald-Cartier International Airport this weekend as a major winter storm batters the east coast.

Flights to and from a handful of U.S. cities are being disrupted at Macdonald-Cartier International Airportthis weekend as a major winter storm batters the east coast.

The delays and cancellations mostly affect travel to Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and New York City, according to the airport's website.

Travellers are beingadvised tocheck their flight's statusbefore leaving for the airport.

Seven U.S. states have declared a state of emergency because of the storm, while nine people have been reported killed in accidents and parts of Washington were coated with nearly 60 centimetresof drifting snow.

More than 50 flights Saturday have also been delayed or cancelled at Pearson International Airport in Toronto.
