Yusuf Ibrahim, known gang member, shot dead while on bail

A known gang member shot dead in a south Ottawa home on Friday was killed while out on bail after being accused in a violent incident at a night club onDec. 7, court documents show.
YusufIbrahim, 27, was charged withassault, forcible confinement andpossession for the purpose oftrafficking after after an alleged beating at Vibe Lounge on Dec. 7.Two other men were also accused of participating in theattack.
Police sources told CBC News that Ibrahim was carrying crack cocaine when he was arrested.
Ibrahim was a knownCripsmember with street name "Grinch," police told CBC News.
He was shot at a house onForestglade Crescent, near Hunt Club and Hawthorne roads, at about 9:30 a.m. ET Friday. There had been a party at the house the night before.
Police continue tosearchfor witnesses.
Ottawa police sources said Wednesday that a vehicle of interest wasidentified afterreviewingfootage from nearby traffic cameras. A traffic cameraat Hawthorne and Hunt Club recorded avehicle speeding onto the Queenswayfrom the recently opened Hunt Club on-ramp.
No description of the vehicle has been released.
No arrests have been made. Ibrahim's death is Ottawa's first homicide of 2015.
Ibrahim's criminal history in Ottawa dates back to 2007 when he was convicted of robbing a bank. He was alsoconvicted ofunauthorized possession of a weapon,possession of a dangerous weapon and drug possession for his role in a 2008 shooting at a Tim Hortons on Walkley Road.
