An abandoned house is completely destroyed after a fire in Albany P.E.I. early Sunday morning.

Firefighters were called to the Searletown Road property around 1 a.m. and ninefirefighters were on scene for about an hour and a half, theBorden-Carleton Fire Department says.

"The structure was totally gone upon arrival," said fire chiefPaul Murphy. "There was nobody around. It's been abandoned for probably 20 or 25 years."

He says it was the department's only call this Halloween.

"The last number of Halloweens have been really, really quiet. Actually the last probably three, possibly even four, we haven't even turned a wheel on Halloween night."

RCMP and the provincial fire marshal's office also attended the fire.

The cause is not known.

Two abandoned houses were also destroyed by fire in the Tignish area Saturday night.
