Anti-cyber violence initiative gets $173K grant

Two initiatives focused on preventing and dealing with violence against women and girls received funding from Ottawa Friday.

Kellie Leitch, federal minister responsible for the status of status of women, made the announcement in Summerside Friday.

TheEastPrince Women'sInformation Centre will receive$173,338in funding for a two-year project to prevent and eliminate cyberviolence against young women and girls. ThePrinceEdward Island Rapeand Sexual Assault Centrewill receive$134,685for another two-year project to prevent and respond to sexual violence against women and girls.

Leitch said the government is taking concrete action by working with community groups to give them the tools they need to protect women and girls from violence.
