Charlottetown man airlifted to Halifax hospital following assault

Charlottetown police say one man is in hospital in Halifax following an assault at an apartment on Euston Street Tuesday afternoon.

One man is in custody and another is in hospital in Halifax following an assault at an apartment on Euston Street, say Charlottetown police.

Police were called to scene at around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Gary McGuigan, deputy police chief, saida 42-year-old Charlottetown man was assaulted. He was first sent to hospital in Charlottetown but was later airlifted to Halifax.

His condition is not known at this time.

Police worked through the day and into the night on the investigation.

They arrested a 36-year-old city man at around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday in connection with the incident.

So far, no charges have been laid.

Police are expected to release more information later.
