Man charged with attempted murder in Charlottetown stabbing incident

A man from Stratford, P.E.I. has been charged withattempted murder following an allegedstabbing incident in Charlottetown. Twenty-year-oldChase Joseph Douglas Aslantogmuswas charged in provincial court Wednesday afternoon.

Police responded to a call onUpper Prince Streetat about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A 21-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital with what police call serious but not life-threatening stab wounds.

"The victim had received multiple stab wounds, but is in stable condition in hospital," said Charlottetown deputy police chief Brad MacConnell.

MacConnellsaid police believe the weapon was a knife.

Aslantogmuswas arrested at the scene on Tuesday. Hewill remain in custody until his next court appearance on Monday, Sept. 18.

Police say the men knew each other.

The incident is still under investigation.
