A local funeral home and the church planned the public service.

Rev.Peter Aikenspoke of the community's grief, and advised those who came to the service to turn to their faith and each other for support.

He spoke of the child's motherwho still hasn't been identified saying a prayer for her as she is dealing with her own grief in secret.

Several RCMP officers attended the service, but they said the investigation was on hold for the day as it was a time to give the baby a proper funeral.

After the service, the baby was buried in a plot in the cemetery next to the church.
