A funeral service for a baby found dead on the grounds of a church outside of Charlottetown is scheduled to go ahead Saturday morning.

The baby was found on the grounds of the Free Church of Scotland in Mount Albion on April 12, wrapped in a blanket and laid on the snow.

Free Church of Scotland Pastor Peter Aiken will lead the service.

"It's obviously a big undertaking to be able to bring people a sense of comfort in such a difficult time," said Aiken.

"We're going to look in the Bible, we're going to read in God's word and to see that even in the pain of suffering and loss, that in this, we're not alone."

RCMP have said little about the circumstances of the discovery, but have said they consider the case a homicide. They have not said whether the infant is a boy or a girl. The child has come to be known as Baby Albion, for the place where the infant was found, and will be its final resting place.

The funeral will be held at the church Saturday morning, with visitation starting at 9 a.m. and the funeral service at 10:30 a.m.
