Baby Albion funeral will be open to the public

The public is invited to attend the funeral for the baby whose body was found on the grounds near the Free Church of Scotland in Mount Albion on April 12.

The public is invited to attend the funeral for the baby whose body was found on the grounds ofthe Free Church of Scotland in Mount Albion on April 12.

While the identity and family of the newborn, named Baby Albion by the RCMP, still hasn't been determined, the community and the RCMP have planned a funeral service.

The funeral will be held May 30.

The Free Church of Scotland with the assistance of the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home, and Heritage Memorial, are providing a burial and will erect a headstone.

Visitation will begin at the Free Church of Scotland in Mount Albion starting at 9:00 a.m. The funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m.

"The members that are working on the file have endeared themselves with the baby and we feel that the community is the same," said Sgt Leanne Butler.

"They are very caring about what's happening and I believe that there is a lot of people in the community that have been following this and care deeply and I believe we'll have a large turnout."

RCMP continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the discovery of Baby Albion. They have said they consider the case a homicide.

An autopsy has been completed and the provincial coroner expects a final report will be provided in the near future.
