Keep barbecue away from house: fire officials

Fire officials in Kensington are warning people to not put their barbecue too close to their house.

A nice weather forecast and the Victoria Day weekend will have many people enjoying a meal cooked on the barbecue.

But fire officials in Kensington, P.E.I. are warning people to not put their barbecue too close to their house.

A Kensingtonhomeowner found that out the hard way Wednesday after a barbecue placed too close to the house set the vinyl siding on fire.

Firefighters doused the fire quickly but itcaused $10,000 to $15,000 worth of damage.

The family was able to remain in their home.
