Heads up! Baseball sluggers' long hits cause problems for ballfield's neighbour

A baseball team with a few good sluggers will have to play in another baseball field in Kensington, P.E.I.

The homeowner across the road from the field has complained to town officials about baseballs landing in his backyard and pool. Some have even hit the house saidMayor RowanCaseley.

Concerned someone will get hurt, town officials have asked the team to play in the adjoining field.

"If they happen to get the ball out over there and they happen to hit somebody who is out in the yard or if somebody is in the pool and they get the ball in the side of the head or something like that, that's not going to be good," said Caseley.

While Caseley was unsure of the actual distance from the batter's box to the neighbour's house, he said it was considerable.

"When I looked at it, I found it hard to believe that they can actually hit it that far but the balls in the backyard are proof in the puddingso they obviously can, somebody can hit it that far."

Caseley saidtown officials are exploring long-term solutions as well such as putting some netting around the field or netting near the home itself.
