Cartoonist Wayne Wright publishes a new book with his take on people who have made a mark on P.E.I.

P.E.I. cartoonist Wayne Wright has a new book out, a selection of his editorial cartoons for Summerside's Journal Pioneer.

Wright has been an editorial cartoonist for more than 30 years. The new book features some well known Island characters who Wright believes have made a mark on P.E.I.

"It's people who are so important to their little neck of the woods. They're people that are loved, and known by everyone around their areas," he said.

"History is too important to be exclusively done by historians. And history can be created by writers, poets, storytellers, cartoonists."

The book features people such as Stompin Tom Connors, Richard Wood, a variety of politicians and a broadcaster or two.

It's available at book stores or at the Journal Pioneer office in Summerside. Wright will be at the official book launch this Sunday at the The Lefurgey Cultural Centre in Summerside at 2 p.m.
