Charlottetown police end pursuit with roadblock in Victoria Park

Charlottetown police say a 21-year-old city man faces charges of dangerous driving and flight from police, after an incident last night that ended after a road block was set up.

Police say driver was charged in February in connection with a similar incident in Newfoundland

Charlottetown police say a 21-year-old city man faces charges of dangerous driving and flight from police after an incident Wednesdaynight that ended after a road block was set up.

Deputy Chief Gary McGuigansaidofficers were doing routine patrols on Queen Street at around 10:25 p.m., when they tried to stop a vehicle.But the driver kept going.

He said that led to a police pursuit. It ended in Victoria Park after officers set up a road block.

McGuigan saidafter investigating further, they found the man was also charged in February in connection with a similar incident in Newfoundland.

Police officers stopped the driver by setting up a roadblock.

McGuigan noted that in addition to the criminal charges of flight from police and dangerous driving, the man also didn't have a licence, vehicle registration, inspection or insurance.

His vehicle was impounded.

He will appear in court on June 6.
