New sky-friendly lights installed on Confederation Trail

The Confederation Trail lighting project is complete.

The public can now experience an evening stroll along the refurbished portion of the Confederation Trail in Charlottetown with the new "dark-sky compliant" lighting up the path.

The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency funded the project with $500,000.

The new lighting reduces the amount of light pollution caused by the use of artificial lighting within city limits. It was installed along the 2.5-kilometre section of the Confederation Trail from Joe Ghiz park, near the Charlottetown waterfront, to Belvedere Avenue.
