Covehead man to stay in jail following standoff

Man involved in Monday's standoff with police will stay in jail until his case goes through the courts.

The Covehead Road man who was involved in a tense standoff with police onMonday will remain in jail until his case makes its way through the courts.

That decision was made during a show cause hearing Friday.

A show causehearing isheldto decide whether an accusedshouldremain in custody or be released if that person agrees to comply with conditions set by the court.

Joel Lawrence Clow, 41, of Covehead Road faces seven charges in allincluding assault, uttering threats, and careless storage and possession of an unregistered shotgun.

The standoff began when police got a call from a woman who said she'd run from the house after a man there had threatened her with a gun.

Police tried to get Clow to come out but he held up inside for three hours, before eventually giving himself up.

Police say two other men inside were not harmed.

In addition to staying in jail, Clow has been ordered to have no contact with his spouse or with two of his sons
