P.E.I. energy strategy needs feedback from Islanders

Prince Edward Islanders are being asked to provide their opinions to help shape the province's energy strategy.

Prince Edward Islanders are being asked to provide their opinions to help shape the province's energy strategy.

The Prince Edward Island Energy Corporation is working with two consulting companies to develop the strategy. A report is expected to be complete by the end of June.

The information gathered will be integrated with the provincial climate change strategy.

The corporation says on its website it's important that P.E.I. implement energy policies that focus on sustainability, energy efficiency, conservation, renewable and alternative energy, while promoting economic development for the province.

Provincial officials say it's vital that they hear from residents and businesses.

Public meetings are being scheduled across the Island in May. Submissions can also be made online, by email, by mail or fax, but must be limited to two pages.
