Not only did P.E.I. enjoy a milder winter this year, it was a healthier one as well.

Health P.E.I. has released the latest flu numbers, and they show the Island is below expected levels for this time of year.

Last week (March 27 to April 2), there were no lab-confirmed flu cases reported on the Island.

So far this flu season on P.E.I., there have been 53 lab-confirmed cases, three outbreaks, 26 hospitalizations and one death.

Last year's particularly bad flu season saw 209 cases in all, with 98 people admitted to hospital, and nine deaths reported.

This year has seen the smallest number of lab-confirmed cases on the Island since 2011-12, when a total of 53 were reported.
