Charlottetown food bank missed fundraising target in 2013

Charlottetown's Upper Room soup kitchen and food bank hopes to match the amount of money it raised in 2013, after missing its fundraising target last year.

The goal for the 2014 Upper Room Angels campaign is to raise $80,000. Each donor is asked to give $1 for each week of the year.

"The money is doled out in a set amount each week," said Upper Room Angels chair Nancy Barrett.

"It is very important with the economy and how things are going."

Barrett said the need continues to grow.

The 2013 campaign target was $84,000, and came up $4,000 short.

This year's Upper Room Angels campaign begins in two weeks and closes Dec. 31.
