Gas prices have increased six cents overnight in a scheduled pricing decision by the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission.

The prices at thepump for regular unleaded gasoline range from 97.6 to 98.7 cents.

"Today's adjustment, while significant, serves to bring PEI pump pricing in line with prices observed in our neighbouring provinces. Indeed, Charlottetown's pump price of 97.6 cpl compares favourably with Moncton, New Brunswick at 97.9 cpl and St. Johns, Newfoundland at 104.3 cpl," IRAC said in its release.

Meanwhile, prices for diesel and furnace oil will remain the same at 72.7 cents.

IRAC has dropped the price of propane by2.2 cents per litrefor Superior Propane, by 1.3 cents per litrefor Irving Energy Distribution and Marketing and by 2.5 cents per litrefor Kenmac Energy Inc.

IRAC's next scheduledprice adjustment will be on April 15.
