Roisin Mullencelebrated her birthday the way she wanted to with a ceilidh.

Roisin, who turned 10, told her parents to host the party so she could dance with her friends to traditional Irish music.

"I really like dancing to Irish music," said Roisin.

"I did ceilidhsat Lorne Valley and I thought it would be a good idea to have it for my birthday too."

Her parents weren't surprised with their daughter's request.

"It's great, there's music constantly at our house, my husband plays a lot of instruments," said mother Heather Mullen.

"I think with Roisin and my son learning as well, they have a real interest in the Irish culture so we're trying to keep it alive at home, and now with her friends."

While not all of Roisin's friends knew the steps to the Irish dances, they were eager to learn.

Bagpiper Mark Douglas said it's nice to see kids learning the steps.

"When you have youth inspired like this, they are dancing with their bodies, whatever way they need to feel the groove and connect with the music, it's a great sign."
